Overview

Coordinate efforts to place youth in structured professional roles across UN agencies, government departments, and private sector partners, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with Sustainable Development Goals.


Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the focal point for coordination between UNV, YES, UN agencies, and GenU partners.
  • Facilitate stakeholder consultations, partnership agreements, and joint planning sessions.
  • Support the design and implementation of a national UN–private sector youth engagement programme.
  • Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, and placement of YES youth.
  • Ensure structured work plans, mentorship, and career coaching are in place.
  • Monitor placement outcomes.
  • Track youth progress and programme outputs.
  • Document field stories, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Contribute to reporting for various reports.
  • Facilitate access to UNV e-Campus, soft skills training, and technical workshops.
  • Ensure wellbeing protocols are implemented.
  • Promote transition pathways for youth.
Required Experience
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in South African youth employment initiatives or United Nations (UN) programming is preferred.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Development Studies, Public Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • Master’s degree is an asset.

Remuneration
A Monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA): R23 820.16 per month. A once off entry lumpsum of $350 at the start of the assignment. Medical insurance; Life cover, and annual leave. A once off exit lumpsum at the end of the assignment.
