Overview
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a consultant to support tasks related to advancing work on Chemical Footprint approaches within the context of the Global Framework on Chemicals. The role aims to contribute to the development of an international standard on chemical footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and publication of a report on chemical footprint terminology and methodological framework.
- Support the development of industry guidance on chemical footprint approaches for the industrial sector.
- Liaise with ISO to ensure necessary documents are in place to initiate the standardization process.
- Contribute concept notes and training materials to support awareness raising and capacity building on Chemical Footprint approaches.
Required Experience
- A minimum of ten years demonstrated experience in project management, research and coordination.
- Demonstrated experience in life cycle assessment, toxicity analysis, chemical alternatives assessment and chemical substitution, or related environmental assessment methodologies, ideally with a strong foundation in applying a life-cycle perspective.
- Demonstrated engagement with multi-stakeholder, global consensus-building or international standard-setting processes, including experience working across sectors such as academia, industry, governments, or civil society.
- Strong analytical and coordination skills, with experience supporting collaborative processes involving diverse expert and stakeholder input.
- Strong communication skills, especially in technical documents and scientific publications.
- Previous experience working with international organizations, expert committees, or international consensus-building initiatives is an advantage.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (PhD. degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, engineering, life cycle assessment, sustainability, natural resource management, or a related field.
