Overview
The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance for child protection programmes and projects. The role supports programme development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting to ensure a protective environment for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and update situation analysis for child protection programmes.
- Prepare programme documentations, materials, and data.
- Monitor and report on programme progress and resource utilization.
- Conduct programme field visits and surveys.
- Provide technical and operational support to counterparts and partners.
- Build and sustain partnerships with government and national stakeholders.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings.
- Research potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Draft communication and information materials for advocacy.
- Identify, capture, synthesize, and share lessons learned.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.
- Experience in humanitarian response is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
Qualifications
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
