Overview
The incumbent will support Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programmes, with a focus on Migrant Protection, Return and Reintegration (MPRR) activities. The role contributes to identifying and addressing migration health needs for returnees, including vulnerable migrants.
Key Responsibilities
- Support health-related activities for AVRR and MPRR beneficiaries.
- Assist in basic health screening and assessments.
- Support fitness-to-travel checks and pre-departure health preparations.
- Assist in provision of urgent medical assistance and case management of health cases.
- Assist in conducting daily medical consultation for migrants with health and mental health conditions.
- Provide patients with available medical drugs and information for use.
- Support organization of health related outreach sessions.
- Assist in the identification and follow-up of chronic conditions, disabilities, mental health concerns, and other vulnerabilities.
- Support pre-departure health counselling for migrants.
- Assist with medical escorts, continuity of care arrangements, and referral documentation.
- Support coordination with AVRR case managers.
- Participate in coordination meetings, calls and exchanges with sending missions.
- Provide PFA and basic health information and psychosocial reassurance to returnees.
- Participate as necessary in Psychosocial education sessions.
- Contribute to identification of protection risks related to health conditions and refer cases.
- Ensure a do-no-harm and survivor-centred approach.
- Provide guidance to teams in Transit center on management of medical cases.
- Support accurate health-related data collection and record keeping.
- Assist in preparation and transmission of medical summaries, certificates, and referral notes.
- Coordinate closely with AVRR, Protection, Reintegration, and Operations teams.
- Ensure health assistance is recorded in IOM database MiMOSA on daily basis.
- Support preparation of medical supplies and kits.
- Assist with inventory tracking, receipt of supplies, and coordination with administrative and finance staff.
- Support verification of medical-related invoices.
- Support coordination with relevant service providers.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- Experience in migration health, returnee assistance, community health, public health, or humanitarian programmes is an advantage.
- Previous exposure to AVRR, MPRR, protection, or reintegration programmes is desirable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited academic institution in Nursing in countries where the Diploma allows to fulfil the full scope of responsibilities defined in PDs.
- A valid license to practice nursing in the country of duty station.
