Overview
This post provides advice and coordinates Electronic Warfare support and Spectrum and Frequency Management within the Cyberspace Directorate at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). The role involves managing and synchronizing cyberspace requirements with a focus on RF spectrum management.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and contribute to ACO Operational Requirements, providing specialist advice on spectrum management.
- Act as the RF Spectrum Management focal point and requirements manager for ACO-wide issues.
- Advise on strategic RF spectrum management requirements and limitations.
- Represent SHAPE at conferences and seminars regarding RF spectrum management.
- Represent ACOS J6 Cyberspace regarding Electronic Warfare issues.
- Work with planning staff to address frequency and spectrum requirements.
- Direct development of strategic and operations concepts involving frequency and spectrum management.
- Harmonise frequency and spectrum requirements of subordinate commands.
- Review and endorse Battlespace Spectrum Management Plans.
- Coordinate Frequency supportability issues, Allotments and Assignments.
- Control RF emissions.
- Develop the Joint Restricted Frequency List.
- Undertake OPR responsibilities for NATO Deployed Spectrum Management and SM tools courses.
- Prepare and provide presentations on expertise for training courses.
- Participate in the Strategic Operational Planning Group (SOPG).
- Make presentations on Cyberspace (Spectrum) related subjects/issues.
- Provide Spectrum training.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in spectrum management in military or governmental environments.
- Strong knowledge of NATO spectrum policy and governance.
- Familiarity with international spectrum regulations.
- Understanding of military CIS systems and their spectrum requirements.
- Experience in C2 resource implications and constraints and C2 Systems in an international/multinational military environment.
- Background in electromagnetic operations or EW and their spectrum implications (desirable).
- Experience supporting operations, exercises, or contingency planning involving spectrum coordination (desirable).
- Broad military background/staff experience at high level HQ including previous work within NATO structures, commands, or agencies (desirable).
Qualifications
- University Degree in engineering, electronics or Communications Electronics, and 4 years function related experience.
- OR Higher Secondary education and completed advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation with 7 years post related experience.
- Spectrum Management for NATO (desirable).
- NATO Deployed Spectrum Management for Operations and Exercises or National equivalent (desirable).
