Overview

The role involves uploading legislative provisions, case law, and other relevant materials onto the SHERLOC knowledge management portal to support information gathering on the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.


Key Responsibilities
  • Upload onto SHERLOC a minimum of 100 legislative provisions or strategies, with a focus on materials relating to international cooperation and crimes that affect the environment, including crimes in the fisheries sector;
  • Upload onto SHERLOC a minimum of 5 cases, with a focus on cases where UNTOC was used as a legal basis for international cooperation submitted by Member States;
  • Review and update the materials available on the SHERLOC treaties database;
  • Draft SHERLOC webpages for publication, including those relating to international cooperation;
  • Support the management of the Online Directory of Competent National Authorities (CNA Directory), including the update of information;
  • Support the preparation and release of the 2025 e-book version of the Directory, in coordination with relevant substantive officers and the Publication Unit;
  • Support the drafting of documents relating to the Working Group of Governmental Experts on Technical Assistance and the Conference of the Parties to the Organized Crime Convention (UNTOC COP);
  • Support the work on formatting and collating revisions to the Manual on Mutual Legal Assistance and Extradition for further presentation and submission to the UNTOC COP;
  • Provide support during presentations of SHERLOC to member states and individual contributors, including during the Summer School on Transnational Organized Crime.
Required Experience

Some experience in analysis of legislation/ legal research, preferably in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice and/or with a focus on organized crime or closely related issues is required; Previous experience working with knowledge management portals such as legal databases is required; Previous work experience in international organizations is desirable; Previous work experience in supporting intergovernmental processes is desirable; Previous experience with website content management systems is desirable.

Qualifications

A high school degree or equivalent is required
