Overview
Oversee and lead the field implementation of site development programme activities, including engineering design and construction for new interventions, and maintenance and improvement of existing sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of site development projects and submit regular updates.
- Train and guide Field Operation Assistants and SD focal persons.
- Provide technical advice and coordination support.
- Carry out regular field visits to monitor construction works and report standards and quality.
- Provide guidance to field teams on technical aspects of IOM construction work.
- Resolve construction related matters with vendors and contractors.
- Promote community participation and ownership.
- Liaise with IOM camp level government agencies and other key stakeholders.
- Plan and coordinate capacity building to site development field support staff.
- Extend technical support to multiple camps as required.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated professional experience in projects for the implementation of civil infrastructure, managing medium to large scale construction and community-based projects and working with local communities is required.
- Experience in local construction materials and technologies is required.
- Experience with International Organizations and/or NGOs is an advantage.
- Experience in camp rehabilitation and site development is an advantage.
- Experience in construction modality engaging cash-for-work beneficiaries is an advantage.
- Experience in contract administration/ quantity surveying is an advantage.
- Experience working within the region an advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
- School diploma with seven years of relevant experience.
- Master’s or Equivalent Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited academic institution will be an advantage.
