Overview

This internship focuses on economic affairs within the United Nations Secretariat, supporting regional commissions through meeting attendance, document drafting, and research.


Key Responsibilities
  • Attend and take notes of intergovernmental and UN inter-agency meetings.
  • Draft official documents including background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, and inputs to publications.
  • Conduct analysis and research of regional trends and regional dimensions of sustainable development.
  • Provide logistical assistance during conferences/meetings of the Regional Commissions.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience

No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
Other Details
Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset.
Contract Duration
2-6 months
Work Modality
in-person and full-time (35 hours) but can be adjusted based on request
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
