Overview

This internship position is located in the Administrative Unit of the Investigations Division (ID) of the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS). The intern will provide administrative support for remote office operations and to staff members working remotely.


Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and update the Division's workforce statistics, conduct research, and assist with workforce planning and analysis.
  • Provide support to the Division's recruitment activities.
  • Update the Division's staffing table, address list and telephone directory.
  • Maintain and file personnel records electronically.
  • Assist with a staffing level review and the preparation of post classification documents.
  • Assist with tasks related to archiving of hard copy folders of investigation cases and HR related documents.
  • Assist with tasks related to inventory management.
  • Provide other administrative support for remote office operations and to staff members working remotely.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to Administration or Programme Mangement is required. Previous administrative support experience is desirable. Previous experience in Human Resources Administration and statistics is desirable. Previous experience in inventory and database management is desirable.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, including MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS SharePoint.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language is desired.
Contract Duration
3-6 months
Work Modality
In-Person full time or part-time with a mimimum of 20 hours a week; combination of in-person and remote.
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
