Overview

The intern will support the Procurement, Logistics, and Global Support Unit in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) by gaining hands-on experience in the planning, provision, and reporting of general administrative services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the implementation of projects across all functional areas.
  • Supporting the gathering and consolidation of data for tracking, analytics, and data visualization using Excel, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools to support reporting and innovation.
  • Supporting the development and revision of policy, guidance, workflows and training material across a variety of functional areas.
  • Assisting in preparing background documentation, correspondence, reports and presentations.
  • Participating in meetings and seminars as necessary and take notes, draft summary reports, minutes and assessment reports for presentation, and monitoring follow-up.
  • Supporting communication and outreach, incl. design of visual material and communication products.
  • Supporting new and ongoing activities and projects, with the possibility to propose own ideas and initiatives.
  • Assisting with physical verification of items and reconciliation of equipment records, liaison with counterparts for possible disposal, and drafting of cases for review by property survey boards.
  • Performing other activities and special projects as assigned.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Knowledge in the field of administration and/or project/ programme management is desirable.

Qualifications

Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Pursuing or have pursued a degree in Administration, Business, International Relations or related fields like Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Information technology. Be computer literate in standard software applications including MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and familiar with analytical tools, data reporting and data visualisation. Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, master's or PH.D. Programme in Administration, Business, International Relations or related fields like Communications, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Information technology. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.

Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
