Overview

Internship positions within the Division of Administration at UNOG, supporting various offices with tasks related to communication, events, anti-racism initiatives, IT, financial management, property management, and logistics.


Key Responsibilities
  • Produce internal communication products including brochures, graphic images, videos, and online content.
  • Assist during move days and post-move activities.
  • Develop post-move user feedback surveys.
  • Assist in tours and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Assist in ad-hoc translation of written content from English to French.
  • Create content about accessibility and design/update newsletters.
  • Facilitate communication with member states on accessibility issues.
  • Assist in the organization of events around disability inclusion.
  • Perform updates on the intranet and develop new outreach channels.
  • Assist the UNOG Anti-Racism Advocate, including taking notes and drafting minutes.
  • Assist in video taking activities for outreach/advocacy.
  • Monitor social media statistics and impact.
  • Draft internal communications and create/update UNOG webpage on racism.
  • Collect information about Global South countries for outreach efforts.
  • Monitor agreed recommendations to fight racism and racial discrimination.
  • Support the Event Center team with AI tools for event support.
  • Research AI Cognitive Services tools.
  • Explore use cases for AI tools in event support.
  • Participate in the creation of prototypes and minimum viable products.
  • Draft and update SOPs, checklists, and quick-start guides.
  • Update FRMS intranet page, create FAQs and visuals.
  • Support budget work by compiling data, reviewing proposals, and running checks.
  • Work on cost recovery by organizing and analyzing pricing data.
  • Assist with MS SharePoint structure and permissions.
  • Participate in the yearly verification of UN property, including preparatory activities, physical verification, and record reconciliation.
  • Assist in handling and coordinating donation requests.
  • Contribute to the review and organization of received items, including physical rearrangement, database cleanup, and drafting of internal procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and dispatching of OUL-related data.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis on UN property-related data.
  • Take notes during relevant meetings and assist in team coordination.
  • Clean, organize, and validate operational datasets.
  • Improve or standardize Excel based reporting templates.
  • Prepare monthly or ad hoc dashboards.
  • Document workflows, map data flows and pain points, update user guides/SOPs.
  • Provide light troubleshooting.
  • Create prototype(s) of small digital tools.
  • Collaborate on cross cutting digitalization efforts.
Required Experience
  • Applicants to the UN Internship programme are not required to have professional work experience. A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Experience or studies in Racism and/or Discrimination issues is an asset.
  • Experience in Environmental Affairs or sustainability is an asset.
  • Experience in Graphic Design and Videography is an Asset.
  • Applicants for the PMSU internship must also be proficient in standard Microsoft software applications, particularly Excel, VBA (Visual Basic Applications), Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Applicants for the Logistics sub-unit must in addition show Interest in digitalization, workflow improvement, and problem solving.
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Pursuing or have pursued a degree in Administration, Business, Management, Finance, International Relations, Communications, Public Relations, Architecture/Design, Social Sciences, information technology, Accounting, Asset management, Management, Economics.

Languages Required
Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional United Nations official language is an asset (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish). Python is an advantage. Ability to analyze large datasets is highly desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
