Overview
The Chief of Mission Support is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing mission administration and service delivery to meet objectives and contribute to the mission's mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributes to the implementation of the mission mandate by providing managerial, logistical, technical, and administrative support.
- Certifies mission expenditures.
- Advises the Head of Mission on administrative and logistical support matters.
- Plans, organizes, implements, manages, and oversees all administrative and logistical/technical support operations.
- Provides effective management of human, financial, and material resources.
- Identifies strategies for the development and implementation of the mission support work programme.
- Ensures development, preparation, coordination, and monitoring of work plans, strategies, and programmes for support activities.
- Establishes policies, procedures, practices, standards, and tools for budget, accounting, financial, and human resources management and control.
- Liaises, negotiates, and coordinates with national authorities on administrative and logistical matters.
- Ensures cooperation and integration of administrative and logistical resources with other mission elements.
- Provides guidance, support, and supervision to senior administrative and logistics/technical support staff.
- Ensures guidance, performance evaluation, supervision, and mentoring for all staff in the areas of responsibility.
- Maintains good order and discipline of staff.
- Represents the mission before legislative bodies for budget proposals.
- Represents the mission support component at meetings and ceremonial occasions.
- Leads team efforts to collect and analyze data for planning, decision-making, presentation, and reporting.
- Performs other related work as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible professional experience in administration, management, human resources management, finance, budget, logistics, supply chain management, information technology, communication, or other related area is required.
- Experience in handling complex organizational issues at local and international level is desirable.
- Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, human resources management, business administration, finance, accounting, management, logistics, supply chain management, engineering, communications or related field.
- A first-level degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
