Overview

The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for recording and reconciling accounting transactions, assisting with payroll processing, and responding to queries.


Key Responsibilities
  • Records and reconciles more complex accounting transactions.
  • Examines and records actions performed in the workflow and routes to auditors.
  • Reconciles more complex bank accounts in various currencies.
  • Assists in the processing of monthly payroll closing, cost-of-living adjustments, and AP accounting.
  • Assists in processing payments to UNJSPF beneficiaries for their entitlements.
  • Drafts/prepares communication to UNJSPF pension beneficiaries and to relevant other work units.
  • Responds to queries from staff members and third parties.
  • Performs other duties as may be required.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports.
  • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to 3 for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in pension-related fields is desirable. Experience in preparing international (SWIFT) payments is desirable. Experience in payroll processing is desirable. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
