Overview
The FSL Project Officer – Value Chain will ensure the quality delivery of food security and livelihoods interventions through value chain and market systems development approaches. The role focuses on improving market linkages, fostering job creation, and enhancing livelihoods of vulnerable households and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support community mobilization, beneficiary identification and verification.
- Lead stakeholders analysis and village mapping exercises.
- Provide technical support to the field team in value chain and agribusiness.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual project plans.
- Produce monthly activities progress reports.
- Conduct quarterly review meetings with the project team.
- Support preparation of value chain assessment checklists, tools, and analysis.
- Provide technical guidance to field staff and local partners in value chain approaches.
- Coordinate and support Project Support Committees.
- Organise regular meetings with key stakeholders and market actors.
- Enhance vertical integration through capacity-building and training.
- Promote horizontal integration by fostering collaboration among communities and stakeholders.
- Prepare and implement action plans for quality monitoring.
- Mobilize and make communities aware of project objectives and MEAL systems.
- Facilitate project and activities information at events.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of value chain interventions.
Required Experience
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in implementing market-based or market systems development and value chain related food security and livelihood project activities within an NGO or development organization.
- Solid experience in Value chain.
- Demonstrated experience in use of participatory approaches to undertake value chain intervention, assessment and analysis with community leaders, local authorities, private and market actors and local partners.
- Experience in gender and protection mainstreaming.
- Strong understanding of value chain development, market linkage, income generation, local socio-economic development issues, institutions and local contexts for target communities.
- Experience in working with stakeholders, private sectors, market actors, community-based organization and local partners.
- Experience of working diverse team and team building.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in agribusiness, Agricultural economics and economics or relevant fields(s) from a recognised university.
