Overview

Provide technical assistance for the development of Healthcare Waste Management Policy, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Implementation Plan and training manual for Tuvalu MoHSW, and conduct a detailed Healthcare Waste Management Assessment at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).


Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare an inception report with a work plan.
  • Lead the development of the National Healthcare Waste Management Policy.
  • Develop a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on Healthcare Waste Management and conduct orientation.
  • Facilitate the development of the Healthcare Waste Management Plan for Tuvalu MoHSW.
  • Conduct a detailed assessment of Healthcare Waste Management at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) and provide recommendations.
  • Develop a training manual for Healthcare Waste Management.
  • Support project coordination and management.
  • Submit the final report.
Required Experience

Demonstrated skills and at least 5 to 10 years of experience in Environmental Health/Environmental Engineering, Healthcare Waste Management, Policy Development, Strategic Planning or related fields. Proven track record in Healthcare Waste Management, Environmental Health, Policy Development, and Assessments at the Facility Level, preferably in the Pacific. Experience in developing adult-centered learning tools and delivering training. Overall competence in working within a public sector setting.

Qualifications

University degree in environmental health, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or related fields. Desirable: An advanced degree (master’s) in environmental health, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, or related fields.
