Overview
This role supports a broad spectrum of legal and organizational governance matters, including commercial contracts, partnerships, disputes, programmes, and institutional matters. It also provides significant support to the Regulatory Framework Secretariat on organizational governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing substantive legal advice on HR-related matters, including negotiations, drafting, advice, partner agreements, and disputes.
- Providing guidance on HR-related policies and procedures.
- Preparing knowledge materials, updating Legal Intranet pages and templates, and assisting with RF Secretariat requests.
- Providing substantive advice and technical support on organizational governance and knowledge management areas, including the Regulatory Framework and Delegation of Authority.
- Collaborating with teams across the organization at headquarters, regional, and country office levels.
- Supporting the coordination of projects managed by the Office throughout their lifecycle.
- Conducting other duties as directed.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years’ of progressively responsible experience in the practice of law in a relevant field (e.g. international law; commercial law).
- Experience with policy development and interpretation in an international organization is required.
- Experience in a law firm, in private practice or as in-house counsel, or in the legal office of an international organization is highly desirable.
- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts is desirable.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a post-graduate university law degree (for example. LL. B post-graduate; LL.M.; J.D.) in a relevant field of law (e.g. international law, commercial law) is required.
- Or, at the discretion of the Chief Legal Counsel, a first-level university degree in combination with an additional two years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
