Overview

This internship supports policy and administration within the Department of Peace Operations, focusing on research, analysis, and knowledge management for UN police.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in research, analysis, development, consultation and formulation of policy positions for the UN Police Adviser and senior management.
  • Support the administration of the UN police knowledge management system.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of UN police strategic planning tools, monitoring and evaluation instruments.
  • Support the preparation, coordination and follow up of UN police events.
  • Support day to day activities in the Office of Police Adviser.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
The internship is UNPAID. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
