Overview

This internship provides administrative and project support within the United Nations Environment Programme International Environmental Technology Centre (UNEP-IETC) in Osaka, Japan. The role focuses on assisting with daily operations and contributing to environmental initiatives.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft general correspondence and reports.
  • Support procurement processes.
  • Assist with office maintenance and inventory management.
  • Process administrative actions.
  • Provide logistical support for meetings and workshops.
  • Assist in analysing office environmental footprint.
  • Assist in drafting documents related to protocols.
  • Assist with IT-related issues.
  • Handle shipping and postage.
  • Draft analyses of policies and reports.
  • Assist in drafting or assessing documents related to UNEP’s programme of work.
  • Draft outreach and educational materials.
  • Respond to basic information requests.
  • Assist with organizing office materials, supplies, files and archives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must be a student in the year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme within a year.
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, such as Microsoft Office products, as well as overall digital and internet technologies.
  • A field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Languages Required
Fluency in oral and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Intermediate proficiency in written and oral Japanese will be an asset.

Remuneration
The Internship is UNPAID and full-time. The intern is not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
