Overview
The Electrical Engineer provides technical expertise and supervision for the planning, implementation, and oversight of infrastructure construction projects in their area of specialization. The role ensures that construction works adhere to quality standards, budget, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily activities of the supervisory and construction contractor in the electrical engineering specialty.
- Monitor construction progress, contractor performance, and identify potential delays, risks, and cost overruns.
- Review and evaluate contractor payment claims, variation orders, and extension requests.
- Maintain project documentation, including progress reports, site records, and meeting minutes.
- Ensure compliance with UNOPS quality standards and project-specific quality assurance plans.
- Conduct inspections and tests of materials, equipment, and works.
- Contribute to the implementation of Health, Safety, Social, and Environmental (HSSE) management systems.
- Monitor project progress against work plans and performance targets.
- Prepare detailed weekly and monthly reports covering progress, quality, HSSE, and finances.
- Support the preparation of Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), contract closure documentation, and project completion reports.
- Maintain comprehensive site records, including field diaries, inspection reports, correspondence, and photographic evidence.
- Support the organization and facilitation of training and learning sessions in project and construction management.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the construction phase of buildings, site supervision, or infrastructure project management in their area of specialization.
- Experience in quality control, monitoring, and reporting within construction projects in their area of specialization.
- Demonstrable competence in using collaboration and productivity tools (e.g., MS Office, G-Suite, etc.) and web-based management systems.
- Desirable: Relevant experience in their specialty area in hospital or healthcare buildings, site supervision, construction, or design of works.
- Desirable: Experience working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in developing countries.
- Desirable: Experience in development or humanitarian contexts.
- Desirable: Experience in project documentation, report writing, and technical communication.
- Desirable: Experience in construction management and supervision using BIM and Construction Management Technologies.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Industrial Installations Engineering, or related fields, with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Or: Master's degree (or equivalent) in any of the above or related fields, with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Desirable: Recognized national or international professional certification in Hospital Infrastructure.
