Overview
The Senior Project Associate (Climate Resilience and Migration) will lead and coordinate projects within the Migration, Environment and Climate Change (MECC) portfolio, monitoring implementation and analyzing challenges to adjust work plans. The role involves conducting research, analyzing information, and coordinating project aspects to ensure compliance with policies and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently lead and coordinate project implementation within the MECC portfolio.
- Monitor project activities and recommend adjustments to work plans.
- Conduct systematic research on national, regional, and international developments related to climate-induced migration.
- Analyze and compile information from reports and documentation on migration, environment, and climate change.
- Monitor budget expenditures and maintain records of approved project budgets.
- Coordinate and monitor financial, administrative, and technical aspects of projects.
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct capacity building workshops.
- Participate in meetings and maintain liaison with stakeholders.
- Coordinate the preparation of correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Identify and document good practices and lessons learned.
- Contribute to the development of SOPs, policies, and concept papers.
- Support the advocacy and fundraising strategy by contributing to new project development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- School diploma with seven years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in Climate Change programming, including implementation and coordination of climate projects.
- Previous experience in working on project implementation, coordination and reporting within Climate change-related portfolios.
- Experience in diaspora engagement or diaspora-focused development programming is desirable.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
