Overview
The Senior Area Coordination Associate will support and coordinate programme functions and programmatic elements in specific oblasts, including engagement with external partners, to support IOM activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and support coordination efforts with local government, donors, and partners.
- Participate in local coordination group meetings with partners and government officials.
- Obtain necessary clearances and follow-up on administrative actions.
- Support the facilitation and coordination of field visits.
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites.
- Flag and bring to the attention of the Sub Offices Coordinator and project managers possible delays, non-compliance, corrective measures or challenges.
- Assist in field assessments and monitoring missions and propose adjustments.
- Compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on specific project topics.
- Support the drafting of inputs and providing information for reports, outreach materials, situation reports, media outreach and after-action collation.
- Coordinate the scheduling of duty-related travel and assist in organizing high-level meetings.
- Prepare and finalize agendas and invitations, verify documentation, record meeting notes and minutes, and monitor follow-up actions.
- Support the implementation of safety and security procedures.
- Support the dissemination of relevant security information.
- Monitor the implementation of IOM’s policies and procedures regarding emergency response and post-crisis management.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Experience
- At least six years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields.
- Experience in humanitarian coordination.
- Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
- Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups.
- Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution.
