Overview

The Information Systems Specialist will assist in the design, development, and implementation of workflow automation and service request tracking systems within UNEP.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the business analysis, development, and deployment of software solutions
  • Assisting in the establishment, maintenance, and optimization of IT infrastructure
  • Assisting with the preparation of data sets, responding to queries, and maintaining reports/dashboards
  • Assisting in monitoring and troubleshooting system issues as they arise
  • Assisting in performing routine system updates and upgrades as necessary
  • Assisting in vulnerability identification, remediation, and monitoring of patches
  • Assisting in implementing and managing continuous delivery systems and methodologies
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving issues in development, test, and production environments
  • Documenting all processes, systems, and software updates in a clear and concise manner
Required Experience
  • At least 3 years of work experience at the national level in software systems analysis and development, and infrastructure management.
  • Experience in Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS ) administration and DevOps processes is required
  • Understanding of core networking concepts, including networking topology, network security, virtualization, firewalls, load balancing, and Domain Name System (DNS ) is required
  • Experience with infrastructure scripting solutions such as Shell or Python is desirable.
  • Experience in software application development is desirable.
  • Experience in databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL ) is desirable.
  • Experience in cloud-based container platforms(Kubernetes, Docker) is desirable.
  • Knowledge of data analytics principles is desirable
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, data science, data engineering, statistics or other related field of study.

Remuneration
A UN Volunteer receives a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) per month and is paid at the end of each month to cover housing, utilities, transportation, communications and other basic needs. UNV provides life, health, permanent disability insurances as well as assignment travel, annual leave, full integration in the UN security framework (including residential security reimbursements). UN Volunteers are paid Daily Subsistence Allowance at the UN rate for official travels, flight tickets for the final repatriation travel (if applicable). A resettlement allowance is paid for satisfactory service at the end of the assignment.
