Overview
This internship supports the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Facility within the Department of Peace Operations, focusing on gender-responsive rule of law support and broader gender-related issues in peace operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing research support for projects and activities advancing the PBPSO Gender Strategy and WPS Facility’s Action Plan.
- Supporting work on peacekeeping transitions.
- Monitoring UN bodies’ proceedings related to gender/WPS.
- Participating in and preparing summary notes for UN and external meetings.
- Assisting with the organization of meetings and preparing materials.
- Supporting the development of inputs to UN reports and policy documents.
- Supporting strategic communication and engagement with external partners.
- Providing administrative and knowledge management support.
- Performing any other duties as required.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
- OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Excel.
