Overview
The World Bank is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist to support and further develop procurement work programs in borrower countries, focusing on building good governance practices and ensuring effective project delivery. The role involves participating in operational, analytical, and advisory activities, leveraging advanced procurement practices and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides procurement support to task teams and clients, ensuring fiduciary and quality controls and consistent application of World Bank Procurement Regulations.
- Assists task teams and clients in understanding and applying the World Bank Procurement Framework, including Standard Procurement Documents and guidance.
- Supports client countries in achieving value for money in project procurement and provides operational advice to borrower implementing agencies.
- Contributes to efforts to strengthen procurement capacity within borrower entities through assessments and initiatives.
- Reviews and provides quality assurance on procurement aspects of Bank-financed operations, contributing to operational documents.
- Participates in supervision and implementation support missions, providing advice on procurement risk management and issue resolution.
- Utilizes technology solutions and data tools to monitor procurement progress and support portfolio management.
- Contributes to knowledge sharing and capacity building by providing guidance and contributing to training activities.
Required Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in procurement and contract management.
- Preferably in the Pacific context and/or FCV small island states.
- Experience preferred in the Pacific context or small island states.
- Knowledge of institutions and procurement reforms in Borrower’s countries, preferably in the Pacific context or small island states.
Qualifications
• Master's degree with a major in a relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Law, Procurement, Finance, Business, or Commerce) or equivalent academic and experiential qualifications relevant to this position.
