Overview

The Transport Assistant will monitor the maintenance and repair of UN-owned vehicles and associated assets, and assist with contract administration for these services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Monitors the maintenance and repair of UN-owned vehicle fleet and associated assets and equipment returned to UNGSC for refurbishment.
  • Assists with the administration of contracts between the UN and contractors for maintenance and repairs on UN-owned vehicles, assets and equipment returned to UNGSC for refurbishment.
  • Conducts physical inspections and ‘spot checks’ ensuring the accuracy of records.
  • Compiles ad-hoc and periodic reports and documentation regarding fleet maintenance and repair status and redeployment.
  • Supervises the performance of technical inspections on motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment and prepares relevant tables and reports, as necessary.
  • Determines generic technical specifications for the maintenance and repair of motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment, estimates quantities for requisitions for spare parts, tools, and related equipment/accessories.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
  • Assists with data visualizations for reporting purposes and the updating of information material such as web pages or brochures.
  • Performs additional, ad-hoc tasks as and when required by the supervisor.
Required Experience

At least seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment or transport operations related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to five years for candidates who possess a first-level University degree. Experience in supervising or managing a motor, heavy duty and engineering equipment workshop or equivalent is desirable.
