Overview
Drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorized UN personnel and performs minor purchases and deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Drives vehicles safely for the transport of the UN Resident Coordinator and authorised UN personnel.
- Maintains strict confidentiality and adheres to all security, safety, and organisational protocols.
- Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and availability.
- Makes regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc.
- Makes minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers.
- Collect goods from the customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities.
- May make or collect payment for goods.
- Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities.
- Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
- Takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
- Logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
- Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- Applies good judgment in the context of assignments given.
- Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports.
- Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required.
- Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles is required.
- Experience working with senior diplomatic officials is desirable.
- Work Experience with the United Nations or similar International Organization is desirable.
Qualifications
- Completion of a High School diploma or equivalent, is required.
- Valid National Driver License is required.
- A defensive driving certificate is desirable.
