Overview

Supports the design and implementation of communication strategies for human rights promotion and visibility. Produces communication materials and manages online presence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Produces and/or assists in producing communication and reporting materials, including texts for social media, stories, press releases, images and videos, infographics, leaflets etc;
  • Leads the maintenance and uploading of information on official websites and social media to ensure content is updated;
  • Monitors and analyzes current social media trends, and advises on appropriate social media campaigns and digital products;
  • Contributes to organizing public online and offline events;
  • Works collectively with other UN communication officers within the UN Communication and Advocacy Group (UNCAG), elaborating and participating in joint digital communications campaigns;
  • Contributes to monitoring of HRMMU media coverage;
  • Maintains and updates stock of communications products and visibility materials of HRMMU;
  • Performs other communication-related functions and special duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in communications, international relations, public information or other relevant areas is required with first level university degree. No experience needed with advanced university degree in communication, journalism, international relations, digital communications, media relations, public information, marketing or related field. Experience drafting social media publications, press releases, human centered stories is required. Experience in graphic design and video editing tools (like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and/or PremierePro) is desirable. Experience within the United Nations common system or similar international organization is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, media relations, public information, marketing or related field. A first-level university degree in the above-mentioned area in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
