Overview

The Senior Child Protection Associate will provide operational planning and supervision for IOM Libya's child protection interventions, focusing on vulnerable individuals transiting through and residing in Libya.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in operational planning of child protection interventions.
  • Supervise child protection staff, distribute tasks, set work-plans, and follow up on performance.
  • Plan daily visits to urban areas, IDP camps, and detention centers.
  • Review and assign cases, implement and follow-up on child protection case management plans.
  • Review child protection assessments and check accuracy of information.
  • Send family tracings and approve child protection cases before departure.
  • Supervise caseworkers during the drafting of BID reports and revise BIDs.
  • Support referral of child protection cases to relevant partners and IOM departments.
  • Identify urgent protection needs and possible solutions.
  • Flag and refer vulnerable cases for voluntary humanitarian return (VHR).
  • Coordinate and follow up with VHR team, embassy representatives, and receiving office.
  • Provide regular CP training sessions and mentoring to staff.
  • Support partnership-building activities with key CP local stakeholders.
  • Regularly update the CP service mapping for all locations under responsibility.
  • Support the organization and convening of meetings, trainings, and community-based protection activities.
  • Support logistical arrangements for protection staff under supervision.
  • Assist in developing SOPs and reports.
  • Coordinate with data management colleagues in maintaining protection-related records.
  • Provide statistics and reports as required.
  • Serve as a designated escort for individuals involved in protection cases and return movements.
  • Adhere to and monitor adherence to protection principles, including Do No Harm, IOM gender, and PSEA policies.
Required Experience
  • Knowledge and experience in supervising staff members.
  • Experience in the field of child protection and humanitarian emergency response.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, Development; or Social Sciences, Business or Public Administration, Law or relevant field; with four years’ experience in a relevant field from an accredited academic; or,
  • School diploma with six years of relevant experience.
