Overview
The Gender & GBV Programme Coordinator will support UNFPA Mozambique in empowering women, adolescents, youth, and marginalized populations to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights in an environment free from gender-based violence and harmful practices. The role focuses on advancing results on Gender and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in line with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework of Mozambique.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and provide management and guidance on Gender/GBV programming.
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of GBV prevention and response programming.
- Provide programmatic and policy guidance to integrate GBV prevention, response, and coordination into national frameworks.
- Support the establishment of a GBV referral system.
- Ensure technical quality assurance of GBV programmes.
- Act as the main PSEAH focal point for UNFPA CO.
- Coordinate partnerships and mobilize support for national policies and programmes for Gender and GBV.
- Support the co-leading of the UN Gender Joint Team and implementation of working group work-plans.
- Provide technical support to enhance country capacities to generate GBV prevalence data.
- Provide technical assistance to strengthen the GBV information management system.
- Coordinate and facilitate training sessions on GBV prevention and response.
- Provide technical support to revise, develop, and standardize training and IEC materials.
- Develop a country office strategy for Gender and GBV capacity building.
- Lead development of GBV policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
- Document and disseminate country-level promising practices and programmatic innovation on GBV prevention and response.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of increasingly responsible relevant professional experience, including experience on design, implementation, monitoring and management of Gender and GBV programmes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Gender Equality and GBV Guiding Principles, survivor-centred approaches, latest evidence, research, global guidelines and good practices on prevention and response to gender-based violence.
- Demonstrated experience in leading capacity building initiatives in Gender Equality and GBV prevention and response and their application in humanitarian, conflict, recovery and development settings.
- Experience in utilizing specific international tools related to GBV in emergencies, essential services, case management, information management, and psychosocial support.
- Experience in evidence-informed policy advocacy for GBV prevention and response and development of national action plans to address GBV.
- Experience in effectively leading diversified teams of experts and coordinating with government counterparts, international and local NGOs and UN Agencies, Funds and Programmes.
- Field experience in complex conflict or post-conflict countries, and/or humanitarian emergency response is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced University degree in Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Gender Studies, Social Work, Public/Community health or other related disciplines.
