Overview
The role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of E-3A aircraft computer/display and ESM/LAIRCM systems, as well as related simulator elements. The position requires ensuring compliance with airworthiness requirements and directly impacting flight safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing scheduled and unscheduled on and off equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, servicing, inspection, testing, modification, evaluation, repair, replacement and adjustment of the E-3A a/c Computer/Display & ESM/LAIRCM systems, test systems, related support-equipment and components as well as related elements of the Mission Simulators, using state of the art specialized test equipment in accordance with applicable technical publications and directives;
- Identifying, proposing and evaluating technical and/or software data changes and modifications;
- Assisting in analysing and interpreting all jobs relevant Mission and Work Data to identify problem and trend areas with respect to E-3A a/c and simulator computer data processing/data display, ESM sensor LAIRCM systems and components Software, Hardware and Training;
- Performing inspections and maintenance of on on-board a/c fibre optic networks including the utilization of state-of-the-art test/calibration equipment;
- Assisting during modernisations at engineering level, throughout the full implementation phase;
- Assisting in identifying requirements and introducing Proposed Technical Solutions;
- Interfacing with internal and external functional elements regarding maintenance of Computer/Display & ESM/LAIRCM equipment for the E-3A and mission simulator weapon systems;
- Assisting in planning and co-ordinating daily work details according to established priorities;
- Co-ordinating and scheduling short term maintenance and modernisation activities in order to meet mission requirements;
- Performing dispatcher duties;
- Maintaining and monitoring inspection and maintenance forms, records and databases;
- Functioning as technical publications, special test equipment, Consolidated Tool Kit (CTK) and tool monitor;
- Providing inputs on training analysis, required level of learning and method of delivery related aspects as well as supporting LW training courses;
- Conducting on-the-job training (OJT) and advising newly assigned personnel;
- Assisting in the establishment and improvement of preventative and corrective maintenance procedures;
- Assisting other technicians in performing work on other E-3A a/c systems and maintaining other E-3A a/c electronic systems when appropriately trained and/or qualified;
- Operating diagnostic electronic and computer-based test equipment as well as logistics related computer terminals;
- Operating motor vehicles, support and test equipment;
- Performing general housekeeping duties, including ground snow/ice removal;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of post-related, current professional experience (with Secondary education and completed appropriate advanced vocational training);
- Very good working knowledge of a/c electronics, preferably electronic sensor systems, electronic data processing and data display systems maintenance;
- Good working knowledge of and professional experience in interpreting technical publications and independently analysing and rectifying complex technical problems;
- Experience in utilizing operational, diagnostic, and utility software programmes for fault detection and isolation;
- Adequate knowledge of Standard Automatic Data Processing (ADP) is required.
- Desirable: Previous NATO assignment; Experience working in an international/military environment; Knowledge of / professional experience in maintaining a/c electronic systems, preferably computer and data display systems. Knowledge of / experience in utilizing state of the art digital / analogue test equipment; Knowledge of state of the art data bus technology; Knowledge of Local Area Networks (LAN), of fibre optics and of UNIX network/operating systems; Experience in basic soldering techniques; Training in a/c electronic systems, preferably in computer and data display and/or electronic sensor systems maintenance.
Qualifications
• Higher Secondary education and completed intermediate vocational training in a/c electronics system maintenance encompassing the theory of basic electronics, electro-mechanical devices, solid-state components and digital techniques, RF principles, basic computer network techniques, or Secondary education and completed appropriate advanced vocational training.
