Overview
Internship opportunity to support the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in fulfilling its mission to protect and promote human rights for all people.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting daily notes of proceedings for information sharing.
- Collecting and filing documents and statements relating to agenda items, press releases, and verbatim points of orders.
- Assisting in finalizing draft reports through verification of relevant information.
- Preparing statistics reports on the organization of work, including data on participants, meetings, conference time, documentation, voting, and balance.
- Contributing to analysis of trends affecting the Council's work and suggesting improvements.
- Preparing draft summaries of communications under the Council's Complaint Procedure.
- Preparing draft responses to correspondence.
- Assisting in the preparation and servicing of meetings of Working Groups.
- Following up on parallel activities organized by the Office, DPI, and NGOs.
- Drafting summaries for information sharing or assisting in drafting media highlights.
- Assisting with outreach activities and attending to queries by NGOs.
- Performing other related duties as requested by supervisor.
Required Experience
APPLICANTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAMME.
Qualifications
- Graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent, or higher).
- OR graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
- Preferably in the area of law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field.
