Overview
The Senior Protection Associate (GBV) will support the implementation of Gender-Based Violence prevention, response, and risk mitigation activities, and integrate child protection and community-based protection into GBV-related programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the GBV and Child Protection Officer in implementing GBV programming.
- Support coordination with internal units for GBV risk mitigation and response.
- Participate in the GBV Sub-Sector and inter-agency coordination forums.
- Assist in planning, implementation, and monitoring of GBV activities.
- Supervise the management of GBV case referrals.
- Conduct and monitor intake, risk assessments, safety planning, and referrals.
- Support the implementation of a survivor-centred, rights-based approach.
- Assist in building and maintaining partnerships with external service providers.
- Provide inputs in the design and delivery of awareness-raising and prevention activities.
- Assist in the facilitation of GBV trainings for IOM staff and partners.
- Support in ensuring GBV service mapping, referral pathways, and case documentation are updated.
- Provide updates, analysis, and contributions to donor reports and briefings.
- Adhere to core protection principles and IOM’s gender equality commitments and PSEA policies.
- Perform any other protection tasks assigned.
Required Experience
- Four years of relevant experience with a university degree, or six years of relevant experience with a school diploma.
- Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
- Minimum of four-year professional experience in the field of Protection and assistance to vulnerable population.
- Experience in GBV case management, protection service delivery, or community outreach in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Demonstrated understanding of survivor-centered approaches and GBV guiding principles.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and plans.
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem solving attitude and skills.
- Good written and spoken communications skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Knowledge of Case Management Software.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing emergency response plans.
- Good knowledge of MS Office applications Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
Qualifications
- Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution in Political or Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work, Human Rights, International Relations or Law, or other relevant field.
- School diploma.
