Overview
The GESI Specialist will be the substantive expert responsible for supporting the project to become gender transformative and inclusive in climate action, livelihood, and agriculture. The role ensures alignment with Plan Indonesia's gender policy framework and Government of Canada's GEI policy, challenging harmful practices and promoting gender equality and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice on GESI strategy and direction for gender transformative and inclusive projects.
- Develop GESI framework for climate-sensitive livelihood and agriculture.
- Support the development and provide GESI technical guidance on project theory of change and strategy.
- Measure project delivery on gender transformative and inclusive ambitions through research and provide GESI monitoring guidance.
- Ensure staff have a basic understanding of GESI principles and provide continuous GESI sensitisation.
- Facilitate learning sessions and capacity building on gender, disability, and social inclusion.
- Lead the assessment and reporting of gender transformative markers.
- Ensure GESI principles are implemented and reported in Plan and donor reporting requirements.
- Support youth-centered approach through GESI capacity building for youth participants.
- Identify and manage GESI-related risks and mitigation strategies.
- Support the project and partner team to forge effective linkages with stakeholders.
- Develop GESI-related policy briefs.
- Identify opportunities for deepening cooperation and collaboration on GESI topics.
- Develop coordination and communication efforts with relevant units and managers.
- Support teams in implementing advocacy and communication strategies.
- Represent Plan in national and sub-national fora and networks on Gender and Inclusion.
- Ensure Plan Indonesia’s safeguarding principles and standards are applied within GEDSI's scope of work.
- Conduct regular evaluations to implement safeguarding and supervise staff.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of work experience working on GESI programmes.
- Knowledge of the links between gender equality, children’s rights, and livelihood, agriculture and climate change.
- Demonstrated understanding of girls’ rights issues, contextualized to an NGO and the linkages between CEDAW, CRC, and SDGs.
- Knowledge of gender analysis programme frameworks and their application to child and youth-rights programming.
- Excellent understanding of the practicalities of designing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality programmes that promote gender equality and girls’ empowerment.
- Excellent understanding of relevant policy-making processes and institutions on gender equality and inclusion.
- Ability to design proposals, guidelines, and standards, monitor and evaluate gender equality and girls’ empowerment programming, based on sound gender analysis.
- Strong teamwork.
- Ability to build internal and external networks across countries.
- Facilitation and training skills for adults.
- Dealing with conflict with tact and a collected manner.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in one of the disciplines relevant to the following areas: social studies in gender, inclusion, human rights, psychology, sociology, livelihood, or other social science fields.
