Overview
The intern will support the interagency affairs team of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in New York. The role focuses on interagency discussions, research on the 2030 Agenda, and event organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and summarize key discussions on interagency meetings.
- Research and summarize key developments related to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and UN Development system reform.
- Collaborate with the New York Office to support UNEP in interagency discussions and fora.
- Participate in the logistics and organization of UNEP interagency events.
- Contribute with the interagency team with communications, briefings, and team organization.
- Contribute to the communication activities of UNEP’s New York Office from an inter-agency perspective.
- Support the interagency affairs team in delivering outputs for UN80 Work Packages.
- Support in the successful organization of the first annual meeting of the UN Task Force on Critical Energy Transition Minerals.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- a. Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent) in environmental sciences, natural resource management, communication, international relations or related field;
- b. Be enrolled in an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) with a focus on environmental sciences, natural resource management, communication, international relations or related fields;
- c. Have graduated with a university degree (Bachelor´s Degree) in environmental sciences, natural resource management, communication, international relations or related field and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
