Overview
The Associate Programme Officer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Botswana Green value chain development for job creation programme. The role aims to diversify Botswana's economy in horticulture and ecotourism sectors and create decent jobs.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Botswana: green value chain development for job creation programme.
- Monitor and analyze specific aspects of programme development and implementation.
- Review relevant documents and reports, identify problems, and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with relevant parties and identify and track follow-up actions.
- Carry out basic research on programmes, operations, and activities, including collecting, analyzing, and presenting data.
- Provide substantive support for policy coordination and evaluation functions.
- Assist in performing consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and developing action plans.
- Participate in survey initiatives, assist with data collection tool design, and analyze responses.
- Contribute to the preparation of written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and reports.
- Provide administrative and substantive support to meetings and conferences.
- Undertake outreach activities and participate in the development of training workshops.
- Participate in field missions, providing substantive and administrative support and data collection.
- Coordinate activities related to budget funding and preparation of related documents/reports.
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of data, identification of trends, and provide insights using data visualization methods.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two years (four years with a first level degree) of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration or related area is required.
- Experience within the United Nations common system is desirable.
- Experience in Trade Related Technical Assistance with intra- Africa trade capacity building is desirable.
- Experience working in project design or project implementation on Botswana projects is desirable.
- Experience managing EU-funded programmes in Africa is desirable.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree in business administration, management, economics or a related field, such as international development. A first level university degree in the above subjects with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be considered in lieu of the advanced degree.
