Overview

The Communication Officer will provide operational support for forward planning of communications, contribute to corporate and thematic communication strategies, and ensure quality assurance of translations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Operational support to the supervisor for forward planning for communications, including development of planning tools, development of procedures and processes around communications, media monitoring and crisis management
  • Contribute to the development of the annual corporate communications strategy, as well as thematic communication strategies
  • Ensure quality assurance of translations, including putting in place of quality assurance processes with external service providers
  • Work on a wide range of writing assignments, including general content for the website, talking points for senior executives, news releases, brochures, fact sheets, etc.
  • Contribute to the development of a communications and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Play a proactive role in conceptualizing, planning and producing the annual report
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned
Required Experience
  • At least five years of experience at national or international level in communications, or national, multilateral and/or international stakeholder engagement
  • One year’s experience of working in multicultural teams
  • Demonstrated experience of global health or international development health issues
  • Proven experience writing about technically complex issues and making them understandable to diverse audiences
  • Experience working in a complex organization (Desirable)
  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment (Desirable)
  • Experience crafting messages for social media (Desirable)
  • Ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, inside and outside Unitaid (Desirable)
Qualifications

• A first level university degree in communications, journalism, humanities, social science or another relevant subject.

Remuneration
• Annual base salary starting at USD 71,335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) • Variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 5314 per month for the duty station indicated above. • Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
