Overview
This internship focuses on digital content curation and audience engagement, acting as a regional aggregator for UN system news in the Caribbean.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in performing a recurring sweep of websites and social media platforms for UN agencies, funds and programmes across the English- and Dutch-speaking Caribbean.
- Assist in drafting short, engaging summaries for every featured link.
- Assist in populating these blurbs and links into established bi-weekly newsletter templates.
- Assist in the technical rollout of the newsletter to the regional subscriber database.
- Assist in curating and adding information related to new UN System vacancies, consultancies, and internships in the Caribbean to a weekly digital card.
- Assist in the use of existing Canva templates to create social media graphics.
- Assist in researching and drafting full-length news and feature stories.
- Assist in participating in and providing on-the-ground support for UN system outreach activities within Trinidad and Tobago.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
- Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software MS applications, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and newsletter platforms e.g. Mailchimp.
