Overview

Drives UNAMA vehicles for authorized personnel transportation and assists with vehicle maintenance and record-keeping.


Key Responsibilities
  • Drives UNAMA vehicles safely for the transportation of authorized personnel.
  • Delivers and collects official mail, documents, supplies and other items.
  • Assists with day-to-day maintenance of UNAMA vehicles: checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.
  • Undertakes minor repairs such as changing flat tyres.
  • Ensures assigned vehicles are fully fueled, clean and roadworthy.
  • Records official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance actions.
  • Detailed Knowledge of Islamabad city, local roads, routes, linking up to Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi and Peshawar and be conversant with security conditions.
  • Reports vehicle damages, mechanical and electrical faults to Transport Officer.
  • Ensures compliance with UN rules on accident and incident reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with UN and UNAMA security directives governing road missions/convoys.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Assists with data collection, analysis, presentations, and reporting for knowledge management and decision making.
  • Assists with visualization and updating of information materials such as web pages or brochures.
  • Required to transport of UNAMA ILO Head of Office to all Government meetings, Diplomatic, UNCT, Think Tanks and other official duties and responsibilities beyond working hours.
  • Familiarity with liaison work with UNCT, MOFA, MOI, SAFRON, Commerce, GHQ, ISI HQ, think tanks and diplomatic community.
  • The driver reports to UNAMA ILO Head of Office as FRO
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 1 years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record with any UN entity is required.
  • The minimum year of relevant experience is reduced to zero (0) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in driving armored vehicles is required.
  • Experience driving with the United Nations system or international organizations is required.
  • Experience driving various vehicle types including vans and other motorized vehicles is desirable.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Post-secondary technical or vocational qualification in the relevant field or equivalent combination of training and experience in ground transport management is desirable.
  • National Government Issued valid driving license type B is required.
