Overview
The Health and Safety Volunteer will support the delivery of basic Occupational Health & Safety and Security Inductions and communicate key safety requirements to new workers and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver basic Occupational Health & Safety and Security Inductions for new workers/IBVs.
- Support SFP in basic Occupational Health & Safety and Security Inductions.
- Share simple safety reminders related to workplace rules, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe behaviour, and reporting channels.
- Report any hazard, unsafe condition, or safety issue observed at work sites inside the camp.
- Follow up on some mild incidents inside the camp, collect initial details, and communicate them promptly.
- Maintain simple records of induction attendance, reported safety concerns, and mild incident follow-up.
Required Experience
- Basic documentation, record-keeping, and reporting skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Demonstrated commitment to Oxfam values, safeguarding principles, and respectful behaviour in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Industrial, mechanical, electrical or any related field)
- Holding one of the following recognized Occupational Health and Safety certifications is preferred:
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
- OSHA professional certification
- Certified Occupational Safety and Health Supervisor certificate issued by the Ministry of Labour.
