Overview

This internship is designed to support the Exhibits Unit within the Department of Global Communications. The role involves assisting in the production and promotion of UN exhibitions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in communication and outreach activities for UN exhibitions, including drafting and editing website and social media content, and monitoring social media output
  • Assist in researching, compiling, and organizing materials for UN exhibition development
  • Assist in designing exhibit materials as needed
  • Assist in planning and organizing exhibit installations and opening events
  • Assist in general office functions such as drafting correspondence, setting up and maintaining files/records and databases, and organizing meetings
  • Assist in other support for the work of Visitor Services Section, if needed
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent), or
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS PowerPoint, is required.

Languages Required
• Fluency in English is required for this internship.
Languages Preferred
• Ability to draft short articles and/or social media posts is desirable. • Good knowledge of design software applications, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Canva is desirable. • Knowledge of another official language of the United Nations is desirable.
Contract Duration
4 - 6 months (6 months preferable)
Work Modality
full-time and in-person in New York but can be adjusted to part-time
Remuneration
This internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
