Overview
This internship is designed to support the Guided Tours Unit (GTU) within the Visitors Services Section, which engages and educates the public about the United Nations' work through tours and briefings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and organizing outreach activities to educate the public about the UN's work
- Assist in organizing guided tours, briefings, and events
- Assist in researching UN thematic issues
- Assist in general office functions such as drafting articles and communications, setting up and maintaining files/records and databases, organizing events
- Assist in taking photographs and videos to promote Visitors Services
- Assist in drafting media content for the Visitors Services' platforms
- Assist in developing and implementation of revenue generating activities and products for visitors
- Perform other duties as required
Required Experience
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience; however, a field of study that is related to the type of internship is required.
- Good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS PowerPoint, is required.
- Familiarity with new technologies such as VR/AR, AI, and others is desirable.
- Ability to take photos and videos, with basic knowledge of editing and retouching is desirable.
- Ability to draft short articles and/or social media posts including basic design skills such as Canva, Photoshop, etc. is desirable.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the two following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent), or (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
