Overview
The Demographic Resilience Analyst post is located in Kyiv as part of the UNFPA Ukraine Country Office. The role will look at ways in which demographic changes affect national, regional, and global concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake analyses on the links between demographic change and development.
- Compile and assess policies related to fertility, aging, youth, migration, urbanization, as well as related issues of pensions, social protection, and labor markets.
- Analyze trends in development assistance.
- Prepare speeches, briefing notes, technical papers, policy briefs, and reports.
- Give presentations, and represent the team and organization in diverse meetings.
- Support Ukraine CO in the development of demographic and development strategies.
- Support the development of UNFPA Ukraine’s country programmes, as well as UN-wide process.
- Support the development of standardized guidance, training materials and webinars.
- Support the organization of major national, regional and global conferences on demographic issues.
- Liaise with key stakeholders.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Required Experience
- 2 (two) years of experience working on demographics-development linkages, undertaking data analysis, and writing reports.
- Strong competency in data analysis and data visualization using statistical software packages, and a wide range of national and international databases;
- Strong skills in report writing, communications and presentation to diverse, technical and non-technical audiences;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Background in the translation of evidence and analysis into policy recommendations, policy briefs, key messages and talking points;
- Experience with policy dialogues and similar events across sectors, including with UN agencies, academics and/or with local or national governments;
- Experience in managing projects from conception to implementation;
- Familiarity with the UN system is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master or Higher) or equivalent in the quantitative social sciences, such as economics, demography, sociology, statistics, or related discipline. Work undertaken in the graduate or postgraduate degree should be directly related to the substantive areas required for this post.
