Overview

The Security Associate provides support to the Security Unit and the Country Office in Kyiv by performing a variety of security and administrative services. The role assists with the implementation of security plans and measures in Ukraine, maintaining linkages and liaison with the UNFPA Country Office and UNDSS.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the implementation of security plans and measures in Ukraine CO, maintaining linkages and liaison with UNFPA offices and UNDSS.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with UNFPA CO and its hubs, wardens, UNDSS and other UN agencies Security Focal Points.
  • Supporting coordination of security related support matters for the Hubs.
  • Liaising with relevant actors regarding information affecting UNFPA personnel safety and security.
  • Assisting UNFPA CO and Hubs with the implementation of security plans, compliance with security measures, developing and implementing contingency and preparedness plans.
  • Assisting with the effective functioning of the emergency communication system, warden system, updated staff lists, fire and evacuation procedures.
  • Maintaining and monitoring safety and security incidents and security clearance reports.
  • Contributing directly to the effective functioning of the Security Team, its communications, operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Following up on tasks, deadlines, commitments made, actions taken and coordination of collection and submission of inputs to reports.
  • Maintenance of the asset inventory, filing system, ensuring safekeeping of equipment and confidential materials.
  • Researching, collecting data and producing statistical reports on safety and security.
  • Pro-active and effective logistic and administrative arrangements in support of the security function.
  • Mastering and sharing material on security methodology, advisories, specifications etc.
  • Disseminating and maintaining UN and UNFPA safety and security directives/guidance and instructions.
  • Assisting in organizing and running safety and security training courses/sessions, briefing sessions and workshops.
  • Conducting mandatory security training under the guidance of the lead trainer.
  • Carrying out any other duties as may be required by UNFPA management.
Required Experience
  • At least six years of relevant experience in security (may be military or police context).
  • Prior experience with the UN system or an international Non-Governmental Organization is desirable.
  • Experience in the usage of computers, applications (e.g. Google Earth) and office software packages (Microsoft Office package i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc.).
Qualifications
  • Completed Secondary Level Education required (Baccalauréat, GCE A-Levels, High school diploma).
  • A university Degree is desirable, but it is not a requirement.
  • Certification in administration and security fields is desirable.
