Overview
The Youth Empowerment Associate will support UNICEF’s work in youth and adolescent development, focusing on empowerment, participation, skills development, entrepreneurship, and transition-to-earning pathways. The role contributes to partnership engagement, programme support, research, drafting, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- - Support implementation and follow-up of youth empowerment, participation, skills development, and entrepreneurship activities.
- - Assist in coordination with government counterparts, youth-focused partners, universities, and other stakeholders.
- - Contribute to preparation of concept notes, briefing notes, presentations, talking points, meeting summaries, and background materials.
- - Support mapping and documentation of youth programmes, partnership opportunities, and relevant initiatives.
- - Assist in organizing meetings, consultations, workshops, and youth engagement activities.
- - Contribute to research, desk reviews, and evidence gathering related to youth development.
- - Support development of knowledge products, internal updates, and communication materials.
- - Assist with activity tracking, follow-up on agreed action points, and reporting processes.
- - Participate in efforts to ensure youth perspectives are reflected in programme discussions and activities.
- - Contribute to identifying promising practices and practical approaches for future youth programming.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in youth development, youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, innovation, employability, skills development, education, or related programme areas.
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture (i.e., studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded.
- Experience in programme support, research, drafting, coordination, and engagement with government or partners is desirable.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; previous volunteer or international/multicultural experience is an advantage.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields is required: Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policy, Education, Youth Development, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Entrepreneurship, or another relevant field.
