Overview
The Protection Team Leader will manage and provide supervision and guidance to the protection team in the delivery of specialized protection activities. The position will provide supervision and plan field-based activities in line with Protection Information Management (PIM) principles and Standard Operating Principles (SOPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise and manage the day-to-day delivery of protection activities.
- Ensure effective protection monitoring activities.
- Monitor and analyze trends of the protection situation and environment.
- Support the development of protection monitoring products.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, capacity building and training for members of the protection team.
- Conduct regular visits in targeted locations to ensure the quality of implemented activities.
- Ensure the delivery of timely protection services.
- Contribute to the coordination of ongoing service mapping exercises and community analyses.
- Ensure accurate record keeping of the protection data base.
- Lead and manage the protection team, including planning and performance management.
- Ensure that all team members fulfil their role as per their job description.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager in recruitment processes.
- Encourage a positive, inclusive and mutually supportive team spirit.
- Coordinate leave plans and schedules.
- Represent DRC to the communities, community focal points, target population groups and other relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate and contribute to coordination internally with other DRC sectors as well as externally with other INGOs.
- Ensure professional standards and transparent communication.
- Ensure respect and promotion of safety, agency, and dignity.
- Support in timely updating of achievement trackers and highlighting constraints and gaps.
- Contribute to weekly situation and other report writing.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager and Information Management (IM) Officer to ensure field-based records and documentation are properly managed.
- Actively plan and coordinate logistics and movements.
- Take the lead in supporting the coordination of program activities as they relate to logistics, administration, finances, or security.
- Understand and comply of staff with the relevant internal policies and directives.
Required Experience
- At least 3+ years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian interventions, human rights, civil society, or community development, preferably with an international humanitarian organization.
- 3 years of experience working directly with conflict-affected and/or vulnerable groups, including migrant and refugee populations, preferably in a management position.
- Experience in managing teams operating across different locations desirable.
- Solid knowledge of the migration context in Libya and of protection risks faced by conflict-affected populations, including migrants and refugees.
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication.
- Experience in identifying and responding to needs of particularly vulnerable individuals and groups based on field work, protection, age, gender, and diversity analysis and other criteria.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively represent a humanitarian organization with communities and stakeholders.
- Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity, ability, and willingness to work with all groups of conflict-affected population, including vulnerable migrants and refugees.
- Strong team coordination abilities, with dedication to personal and staff development and on-the-job learning.
- Field-oriented attitude and strong humanitarian spirit.
Qualifications
• University Degree in the field of Social Sciences, Sociology, Community Development, Communication, Humanitarian Affairs, or any other related field
