Overview
The Education Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects, contributing to sustainable results to improve learning outcomes and universal access to quality, equitable and inclusive education.
Key Responsibilities
- Support programme development and planning through situation analysis, research, and reporting on development trends.
- Contribute to sectoral programme goals, objectives, strategies, and results-based planning.
- Provide technical and administrative support throughout programming processes, including preparing materials and monitoring.
- Manage, monitor, and deliver programme results by collaborating with colleagues and partners, suggesting solutions, and reporting on implementation issues.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews, and prepare reports.
- Monitor and report on the use of sectoral programme resources and verify compliance.
- Prepare draft inputs for programme/donor reporting.
- Provide technical and operational support to government counterparts, NGO partners, UN system partners, and other country office partners/donors.
- Build and sustain effective working partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders.
- Draft communication and information materials for programme advocacy.
- Participate in inter-agency meetings and events on programming.
- Research potential donors and prepare resource mobilization materials.
- Contribute to identifying, capturing, synthesizing, and sharing lessons learned.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practice.
- Research and report on best and cutting-edge practices for knowledge products and systems.
- Participate as a resource person in capacity building initiatives.
Required Experience
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in Education is required.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Qualifications
A university degree (Licence) or equivalent in one of the following fields is required: education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.
