Overview
The Obstetrician & Gynecologist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered reproductive, maternal, and gynecological healthcare services within SCI-supported clinical facilities. The role focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and management of obstetric and gynecological conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient and emergency gynecological and obstetric care.
- Conduct antenatal, postnatal and FP care services.
- Diagnose and manage reproductive health conditions and complications.
- Perform minor gynecological procedures as required.
- Ensure proper documentation of all patient consultations and treatments.
- Adhere strictly to national MoH protocols and WHO reproductive health guidelines.
- Ensure consistent application of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and informed consent always.
- Practice within defined scope of competency and refer complex cases appropriately.
- Provide counseling on family planning, maternal health, and reproductive health issues.
- Support awareness sessions for female beneficiaries on preventive health practices.
- Work closely with nurses, midwives, and other health staff to ensure integrated care.
- Participate in case discussions and referrals when needed.
- Contribute to medical reporting and data collection for program monitoring.
- Ensure timely communication of critical cases and clinical concerns.
- Support emergency obstetric care when required.
- Participate in rapid response during health emergencies or outbreaks.
- Ensure readiness to manage life-threatening maternal and reproductive health conditions.
- Participate in health need assessments and site selection for health program if needed.
- Engages and collaborate closely with SCs nutrition teams and CP /EiE teams within the primary health center.
- Participates in training to improve clinical performance.
- Be prepared to host visits and represent Save the Children.
- Works as per allocated shift hours.
- Comply with SCI policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Be flexible to take other roles when required by the line manager.
Required Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in primary health care and general practice.
- Work experience in humanitarian emergencies
- Work experience in an (International) Non–Governmental Organization ((I)NGO)
Qualifications
- Registered Medical Doctor qualified from the recognized institution and licensed to practice medicine in Gaza.
- Registered as an Obstetric and Gynecologist qualified from the recognized institution and licensed to practice medicine in Gaza.
