Overview
The Data Analyst Intern will support the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in the application and implementation of projects, focusing on data analysis and visualization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Branch and UNCTAD Statistics Service in the methodological maintenance of the Productive Capacities Index (PCI).
- Assist the Branch in finalizing the Small Island Developing States (SIDS Satellite PCI).
- Assist the Branch in analysing correlations between the SIDS Satellite PCI and the Core PCI.
- Assist the Branch in elaborating quantitative analysis for National Productive Capacities Gap Assessments (NPCGA).
- Contribute to data collection for existing and proposed PCI dimensions and develop data collection mechanisms.
- Generate data visualization products, including infographics and maps.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- University degree must be in statistics, economics, mathematics or another discipline with a substantively numerate component.
- Be capable of programming in R.
- Be proficient in standard software applications, including Excel and Word.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
