Overview

This internship supports the implementation of digital transformation initiatives within UN Peacekeeping, aiming to enhance peacekeeper safety and security and improve mandate implementation.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the identification, development, implementation, and evaluation of digital transformation initiatives.
  • Carry out background research on peacekeeping-related challenges, digital solutions, emerging technologies, and innovation methodologies.
  • Design and conduct surveys, stakeholder consultations, and data-gathering exercises.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of workshops, co-creation sessions, and consultations.
  • Draft and contribute to various written outputs, including background notes, talking points, and analytical briefs.
  • Maintain organized records of meetings, project documents, and innovation tools.
  • Assist with the day-to-day coordination of workstreams and events.
  • Assist in organizing and delivering in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings and events.
  • Support efforts in measuring the progress and impact of innovation and digital transformation activities.
  • Provide logistical, administrative, and operational support for the team’s ongoing work.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required to support team priorities.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent); or
  • Have graduated with a university degree as defined above.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
