Overview

Internship with the Development, Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Branch (DESC) to support OHCHR's mission in protecting and realizing human rights.


Key Responsibilities
  • Researching and analyzing thematic issues linked to a human rights economy.
  • Assisting with missions, meetings, seminars, and workshops, including documentation preparation and report drafting.
  • Supporting collaborative work with other United Nations departments, agencies, and bodies.
  • Performing other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Graduate or enrolled in a graduate school programme (Master's degree or equivalent).
  • OR Graduate or enrolled in the final academic year of a first-level university degree programme (Bachelor's degree or equivalent).
  • Preferably in development economics, political economy, international relations, social sciences, or a related field.
Other Details
Languages Required
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
• Knowledge of an additional United Nations' official language is desirable (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish).
Contract Duration
Initial 3 months with possible extension of 3 months.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
